Fort Ancient Culture. It is conically drilled twice, once for the

Ancient Discoidal w/ face - Found in 1964 in Mason County, Kentucky
above Fox Fields on River. Purchased from the finder by Wilbur Sonner
of New Albany, Indiana. Mr. Sonner's collection is pictured in Who's Who # 2
on page 170 and I was told Discoidal is 5th from the left in that photo.
This Discoidal has a "face" in the cup on both sides. (see
photos). It has 50 tally marks on one edge and 37 on the other. Ex-

- Description: Kentucky Sandstone Elbow Pipe - This nice Elbow Pipe was found in Clark County, KY outside Winchester, KY in 1972. It was found as a surface find. It is made of Sandstone and is engraved. (see photos). The stem, when found had been "freeze popped". All three pieces were restored back perfectly. (see photos). This is a highly stylized pipe with bonus engraving. A nice addition to any collection.

- Description: Hardstone Hammer Stone or Disc - Here is a piece of Hardstone that has been shaped into a round disk. It is most likely a Hammer-stone used to peck or shape with. It is slightly narrower on one side than on the other and the sides show that it has been polished. This usually indicates that it was salvaged from an Axe or Celt that had become severely damaged. - Description: KY Hardstone Disk or Game Stone - This Disk found in Fayette County, KY. The outside surface is "pecked" into shape and then ground smooth. (see photos). Some call these "Game Stones" and others a type of Discoidal. This piece was purchased in a group of artifacts on a board which hung in Green's Filling Station on Harrodsburg Road in Lexington, KY, where Ramsey's Diner now stands, from around 1940 until around 1974. - Description: Sandstone Tube Pipe - G-10 - Fantastic 'knobbed" type Tube Pipe mad of sandstone that was found in Bath County, Kentucky sometime in 1970. It was marked by Paul Stockman, of Somerset KY when he obtained it in 1970 with his little green stamp. Paul owned Pioneer Coins in Lexington Ky for many years. This is a Great example of the type and you will have to really look to find a better one. I obtained it by finding out about the sale of his collection to Tom Davis. - Description: Sandstone Pipe - G-9 - Here is another neat pipe from the Paul Stockman collection. It is made of local Sandstone and was found in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky in Montgomery County. It also is marked with the Stockman "green stamp". I refer to it as a "canoe" pipe, which is what it reminds me of. The bowl has been reamed and gouged out to a wide bowl.
