- Description: Rare Antler Pipe - This Rare
Example was found in Jackson
County, KY many years ago by a friend of mine. It was found
laying stem hole down about 2 1/2 feet down in a dry sandstone shelter.
It is covered with deposits and patina. The really neat part is
the the lower portion below the brow point was wrapped in a very fine
braded or twisted cordage that was secured by a matrix that is most
likely Pine Pitch. The impressions left in this matrix have
rounded bottoms. This piece has been shared with several advanced
collectors and also with Dr. Michael Gramly who agreed that the matrix
was most likely Pine Pitch. This Pipe was either attached to
something or had something suspended from it which is my opinion. I have
included a few photos "with white background" of another example made
almost identical that was found in a wet environment by Chris BInkley
near Smith Fork Creek in Middle Tennessee, I believe that is Wilson
County. This is a very fine example in Excellent condition of a very
rare pipe!

- Description: The
"Woods Dump" Loafstone / Banded Slate Loaf Stone - In 2005, Shiloh
Pointe development at the Northern end of Madison County, KY was
underway. John Evans Bobbitt was working as a surveyor for a
construction company. Oh Dec 22nd, 2005 at the back of Shiloh
Pointe, where what was to become Falcon Crest Drive drops over the hill,
John was working when he felt the sudden, urgent, "call of nature".
As he related it to me, he had stepped off the then gravel hill and
started into the woods when he saw a game trail. He followed it
maybe 20 yards into the wooded hillside looking for a place to "take
care of business" when he spied something frozen in the dirt of the
path. Whether before or after "business", I never asked, John
retrieved this nice artifact made from banded slate. A couple of
weeks later, I retraced his steps and found the imprint of the piece
still in the hard packed dirt trail. Because of this story, this
piece will forever be known as "The Woods Dump Piece". A good
friend finally granted me the privilege to bring this fine piece back to
Madison County.
