Description: Pair of Boyle Chert Adena Projectile Points - Here are a pair of Adena Points from two different varieties of Boyle Chert. The darker one has the signature "snake-skin" fossils in it only found in Boyle Chert, Fort Payne, and St. Louis Green in this area.  The lighter one is classic Central KY Boyle Chert.  Both are early Adena examples and have a ground stem. Description: Boyle Chert Adena Narrow Stem -  This is a well made Adena Narrow Stem.  It is made of Heat Treated Boyle Chert.  Just above the ears there is a nice Crinoid Fossil stem inclusion that is "eat up" with deposits.  (see photos).  The base is lightly ground on this Adena as you see in some early Adena forms.  It has nice symmetry & flaking.  This piece was found in Madison County, KY. ( I took and loaded one set of photos of the point just the was it was when I got it, then realized that there was still a lot of dirt on the point ...... so I washed it with a tooth brush and re-took as set of photos.  I decided that this made a good comparison study of what "original" dirt deposits look like on a piece that has just been rubbed off, so I left both sets of photos. )  Monty

Description: Hornstone Adena / Turkeytail Harrison - This fine piece is either an Adena or a Turkeytail Harrison with weak shoulders.  It is made of Hornstone and is thin and well flaked.  It has nice symmetry and form.  This piece is from the collection of Mr. Chan Strader of Athens, KentuckyChan dug, surface hunted, and collected artifacts all around the Central Kentucky area.  Mr. Strader passed away over 20 years ago and left his collection to his cousin, Bobby Dodd, who donated the major portion to the University of Kentucky.  Bobby's wife gave away a case of pieces that he had kept to a family friend.  Only these few items of this collection remain available to collectors.  Ex- Bill Harper

Description: Beautiful Mottled Fort Payne Adena - This Fantastic Adena Robbins was found by Nick Lester on the banks of Silver Creek in Madison County, KY.  It exhibits as fine a flaking and symmetry and form as you will find in an Adena.  It was represented to me as an "Indented Base" Adena such as Overstreet has shown in the past.  I am not sure that it is but is IS an extraordinarily well made Adena out of a beautifully patinated piece of material.  Ex- B. Description: Adena Turkeytail Harrison - This piece has a very nice tip.  It has two ancient chigger bites to one side that do not hurt the way it displays.  The base is ground on the sides and lighter where the tail tapers in.  Found in Estill Co., KY, it is made from a highly "pitted" translucent material that is probably either Sonora or Hornstone.

Description: HUGE Carter Cave Chert Adena - This is an extremely nice Adena of some size.  It is made of rich Carter Cave Chert.  It has nice flaking, good symmetry, a very nice tip, and a lightly ground base.  It was found in Franklin County, Kentucky. Description: Big Adena - Here is a big nice Adena from Benton County, TN.  Made of a cream to tan colored chert.  It has nice length and symmetry and a serrated edge.  This side very nicely flaked the other side having a large part of the cortex and very finely flaked around the edges.  Has an ancient ding to the tip that has been worked back over.  Nice BIG size and well shaped.  Ex- John Duncan, Ex- Monty Pennington
