Description: Carter Cave Chert Paleo Uni-face Knife - This is Absolutely the finest Paleo Knife that we have ever offered for sale. It is made of Carter Cave Chert and is totally uni-face on one side. It has a nice curve along the length of the blade all the way to the tip. It was created with 3 long strikes to the back before or after it was struck from the core. The remainder of one of those strikes can be seen at the back of the edge that was used the most and has been re-sharpened several times. (see photos) Another can be seen on the other edge of the same side extending back from the tip about 3 inches. The 3rd can be seen in evidence along the top of the median ridge that was created from the one edge being re-sharpened. (see photos) Along the basal end, you can see the large parallel percussion flakes extending across the blade from the blade edges where it was thinned. This fine Paleo Uni-face Knife was found in Bath County, KY by Joey Fairbanks along

It is uni-face and of one continuous strike with NO re-sharpening or touch up on the uni-face side. The swirls in the gray to cream to white Chert are beautiful. It is NOT a G-10 by any means, but is a true, LARGE, example of a Paleo knife made of a rare chert type from Central Kentucky. It was found in Garrard County, KY, by Stewart Ray.
